Can a Past Life Shape the Patterns You're Living Now?

Some patterns don't seem to have a starting point.

You may have a fear that doesn't match anything you've lived through. Maybe you feel an immediate, unexplainable bond with a person you just met, or the opposite: a heaviness around someone that you can't trace to anything they've done. You might be drawn to a certain country, era, language, or landscape for reasons you can't name. Or you may notice the same relationship dynamics, the same losses, or the same lessons coming back, no matter how much work you've done to understand them.

Sometimes we can trace these patterns back to childhood, family, or experiences in this lifetime. Therapy, reflection, and honest inner work can be deeply important here, and I would never suggest skipping them. But sometimes, even after we've looked everywhere we know to look, something still feels unexplained.

That's often where people first start wondering about past lives.

What Do I Mean by a "Past Life"?

The idea that the soul experiences more than one lifetime appears in spiritual traditions all over the world. Different cultures describe it in different ways, and I don't think you need to adopt one specific belief system to be curious about it.

Within my own spiritual understanding, I see the soul as something that carries experience forward. Not every memory or detail, but impressions: unfinished emotions, deep loves, old wounds, gifts, and lessons that may still be asking for our attention. I sometimes think of it as the soul's long memory. Most of the time it sits far below our everyday awareness, yet it can still quietly shape what we're drawn to, what we fear, and what keeps returning to us.

This is the spiritual and energetic framework through which I understand past-life work. It isn't a scientific claim, and you're welcome to approach it with as much curiosity or skepticism as feels true for you.

When the Pattern Might Be Older Than This Lifetime

In my work, I've seen past-life experiences come forward around many different themes. A few of the most common:

Fears without a clear origin. A fear of water, of heights, of being seen, of speaking up, or of being abandoned, when nothing in this life seems to explain why it runs so deep.

Relationships that feel ancient. Connections that feel instantly familiar, intensely charged, or strangely fated, whether they bring love, conflict, or both.

Recurring life themes. Repeating cycles of betrayal, loss, sacrifice, or holding back your power, even after you've consciously worked to change them.

Unexplained physical sensations. Discomfort, tension, or sensations in certain areas of the body that seem to carry an emotional or symbolic weight.

Gifts and pulls you can't explain. Natural abilities, intuitive knowing, or a deep longing toward a particular place, practice, or calling.

None of this means every fear or symptom comes from a past life. Most of what we carry has very human, very present-day roots, and those deserve care too. But when a pattern feels older than you, I think it's worth getting curious about where it might begin.

How QHHT® Explores Past Lives

QHHT® (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique) is the method I use to explore these deeper layers. It was developed by hypnotherapist Dolores Cannon over decades of work with consciousness and past-life regression.

During a QHHT session, you're guided into a deeply relaxed state of hypnosis. You stay aware and able to speak the entire time. From there, we follow whatever comes forward. For many people, that's a past life: a time, a place, a body, a story. For others, it's a parallel life, a symbolic landscape, a memory from this lifetime, or something entirely unexpected.

What makes QHHT different from simply "seeing a past life" is what happens next. After the regression, we invite forward what Dolores Cannon called the Subconscious, or SC, which some people prefer to call the Higher Self. This is the part of the session where we ask the questions you came with:

  • Why was I shown that life?
  • What does it have to do with what I'm living now?
  • What am I still carrying from it, and am I ready to release it?

That's the heart of it for me. The goal isn't to collect interesting stories about who you may have been. It's to understand what those stories are trying to show you about the life you're living today.

Why Seeing It Can Help You Release It

Something shifts when a pattern finally has context.

I've watched clients see a lifetime where a fear made complete sense. Where it was a reasonable response to what that version of them lived through. And often, in that moment, the fear starts to loosen its grip. It no longer feels like a mysterious flaw. It becomes something that once protected them, and something they may no longer need to carry.

The same can happen with relationships. Seeing an old connection from a different angle can bring compassion, closure, or the clarity to finally make a choice that's felt impossible.

Within the QHHT framework, the SC may also be asked to identify where emotions or experiences may be connected to physical discomfort, and to offer healing or relief where appropriate. Some people report meaningful changes afterward. Others notice subtler shifts over the following days and weeks. Experiences vary, and physical healing can never be guaranteed. But I've seen enough to believe these sessions can open doors that other approaches haven't reached.

Do You Have to Believe in Past Lives?

No. I've worked with people who are certain they've lived before, people who are curious but unsure, and people who come in fully expecting nothing to happen.

One of the most common things I hear in a session is, "I feel like I'm just making this up." That's completely okay. Imagination draws on the same inner landscape through which memory, symbolism, intuition, and deeper consciousness can surface. You don't have to decide in the moment whether something is "real." You only have to follow it.

Whether you understand what comes through as a literal past life, a story your soul chose to tell you, or a symbol your deeper mind created to help you heal, the meaning it holds for your life now is what matters most.

A Note on Going Deeper More Than Once

Many people experience QHHT as a single, life-changing session. Others find that each journey opens another layer. Different lifetimes may come forward as you grow, as new questions surface, or as you become ready to understand something you weren't ready to see before.

There's no right number of sessions. Some journeys are meant to be taken once, and some are meant to be returned to.

What QHHT Is Not

QHHT is not a replacement for medical care, mental-health treatment, or the support of other professionals. If you're working through trauma, I believe past-life work can sit alongside therapy and other care, not instead of it.

It's also not about blaming your current struggles on a past life or deciding that everything happens "for a reason." You are not being punished for something you can't remember. If anything, I see past-life work as a way of meeting yourself with more compassion, recognizing that you may have been carrying something heavy for a very long time.

If You Feel Called to Explore

If you've read this far, maybe there's a question you've carried for a long time. Maybe it's a fear, a relationship, a pull, or a sense that there's more to your story than this lifetime explains.

You don't need to know what your journey will reveal before you begin. You only need the curiosity to go within.

I offer private, in-person QHHT® sessions in Cornelius, North Carolina, serving Lake Norman, Charlotte, and anyone willing to travel for the experience. You can learn more about the full session, how to prepare, and how to book on the QHHT page.

Your answers may be older than you think.
