Can a Past Life Shape the Patterns You're Living Now?
Oct 20, 2026
Some patterns seem older than we are.
A fear that doesn't match anything in your history. A connection with someone that feels decades deep after a single conversation. A pull toward a certain place, era or culture you've never had a reason to love. A lesson that keeps circling back no matter how many times you think you've finally learned it.
Most of the time, the roots of a pattern can be found in this life: childhood, family, relationships, the things that happened to us and the stories we built around them. That work matters, and nothing here is a replacement for it. But sometimes, even after years of honest reflection, a thread still leads somewhere you can't follow with your conscious mind alone.
That's where past life regression comes in.
What Is Past Life Regression?
Past life regression is a guided hypnotic experience in which you're invited to explore memories, images and impressions that feel as though they come from a lifetime before this one. Some people experience these as literal past lives. Others understand them as symbolic stories their deeper mind offers up to help them make sense of something in the present. Many land somewhere in between.
You don't need to believe in reincarnation to benefit from the experience. What matters is not whether you can prove a lifetime happened, but what the experience helps you understand, feel and release now.
What Hypnosis Actually Feels Like
Hypnosis is often misunderstood. It isn't sleep, and it isn't losing control. It's a deeply relaxed, inwardly focused state, similar to the moments just before you drift off at night or the way time disappears when you're absorbed in a good book.
In this state, the busy, analytical part of the mind quiets down, and the quieter layers of awareness (memory, imagery, emotion, intuition) become easier to reach. You remain aware throughout. You can hear the guide's voice, speak, answer questions, and open your eyes at any time if you choose. Many people are surprised by how ordinary it feels, and how much comes through anyway.
Patterns People Often Explore
Every session is personal, but a few themes come up again and again:
- Fears without a clear origin — water, heights, crowds, being seen, speaking up, being left behind.
- Relationships that feel ancient — instant recognition, intense pull, or unexplained tension with someone in your life.
- Places, eras and cultures that call to you — a country, language, landscape or period of history that feels strangely like home.
- Repeating life themes — the same losses, betrayals, sacrifices or roles showing up in different forms.
- Sensations in the body — tension, heaviness or discomfort that seems to carry an emotional story.
- Purpose and direction — gifts that come naturally, callings you can't explain, or a sense that you're here for something specific.
What Comes Through (and Why Imagination Is Welcome)
Experiences vary widely. Some people see vivid scenes like a film. Others feel emotions, notice textures or temperatures, or simply know things without seeing much at all. Some hear words or receive impressions that only make sense later.
It's very common to wonder, "Am I just making this up?" That question is welcome, and it doesn't need an answer in the moment. Imagination and intuition draw from the same inner well. The invitation is simply to follow what comes and let the meaning reveal itself afterward.
Connecting With Your Higher Self
Many regression sessions also include time to connect with what's often called the Higher Self: the wiser, more expansive part of you that sees your life from a bigger perspective. This is often where the deepest clarity arrives. Questions that have felt tangled for years can suddenly feel simple. Guidance tends to come through as calm, loving and surprisingly practical.
How to Hold What You Discover
Whatever arises in a regression is a personal, subjective experience. It isn't a historical record, and it isn't a diagnosis. The most helpful approach is to hold it with curiosity: notice what it stirs in you, what it explains, and what it asks of you now.
Integration continues long after a session ends. Insights tend to keep unfolding over the following days and weeks, often in quiet ways: a reaction that softens, a relationship that shifts, a decision that suddenly feels clear.
What Past Life Regression Is Not
Regression work is a spiritual and personal-growth practice. It isn't medical care, psychotherapy or a substitute for licensed mental-health support, and it shouldn't replace any treatment you're receiving.
Because hypnosis involves a deeply relaxed, altered state, it also isn't the right fit for everyone. It's generally not recommended for people with epilepsy or a seizure disorder, psychotic or dissociative disorders, bipolar disorder, or a serious heart condition, during pregnancy, or while taking medication or substances that affect alertness. If any of these apply to you, gentler practices may be a better place to begin.
Is It Time to Look Deeper?
If you've done the work and something still feels unexplained, or you simply feel called to understand your soul's story more fully, past life regression can be a profound next step.
The Soul Archives is my private, virtual hypnotic regression and Higher Self experience. It's a 3–4 hour guided journey you can take from the comfort of your own space, wherever you are in the world.
